Haaland Invites Students to Participate in Congressional App Challenge
Albuquerque, N.M. – Today, Congresswoman Deb Haaland (NM-01) is inviting students to participate in her office’s Congressional App Challenge. The challenge is an app building competition open to middle school and high school students who live in New Mexico’s First Congressional District.
"Jobs of the future are in technology, but sometimes our kids aren’t exposed to tech skills to keep up with increasing demand. My Congressional App Challenge is a great way to spur imaginations, teach kids to code, encourage them to manage a project, and have an opportunity to have their app showcased at the national level,” said Congresswoman Deb Haaland.
Since its start in 2013, the Congressional App Challenge had increased interest in computer science and STEM. New Mexico is home for technology, students in the state are in a great position to learn more and take advantage of good paying, high tech jobs.
All students, regardless of background in coding, who meet the requirements are encouraged to compete. Registration is now open, and applicants can apply atHaaland.House.Gov/Congressional-App-Challenge. The submission deadline is November 1, 2019.
