Haaland Leading Livestream Roundtable to Examine Pendley’s Unfitness for Office

Press Release

Washington, D.C. - Today, Wednesday, Sept. 9, House Natural Resources Committee Vice Chair Rep. Deb Haaland (D-N.M.) will lead a livestreamed roundtable titled William Pendley’s Unfitness to Lead the Bureau of Land Management with Chair Grijalva and Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) of the House Oversight and Reform Committee. The event will feature a range of stakeholders discussing the damage Pendley has done as acting head of the agency since taking over more than a year ago.

President Trump nominated Pendley to serve in a formal role but withdrew the nomination on August 15, which led the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee to cancel its planned confirmation hearing. The roundtable is part of the Committee’s larger effort to scrutinize Pendley’s record, which is especially necessary in the absence of oversight from the Republican-controlled Senate.
