Albuquerque, N.M. – As part of her efforts to celebrate our nation’s veterans, Congresswoman Deb Haaland (NM-01) congratulated local businesses for their commitment to employing veterans. Several businesses in New Mexico’s First Congressional District were recognized by the Department of Labor’s HIRE Vets Medallion Program award.

New Mexico’s own Metis Technology Solutions, Inc, Westwind Computer Products Inc., SDV Construction, Inc., and Senspex, Inc. received awards for their investments in recruiting, employing, and retaining veterans in their companies. Full list of New Mexico awardees is available here.

“I have the deepest gratitude for our veterans. Their service and sacrifices in defense of our country exemplifies New Mexico values to put our communities first. Growing up in a military family, I saw what my parents went through in their service and it inspires me every day as I serve New Mexico’s military families. That’s why I’m incredibly proud of the homegrown companies in our district who are honoring our veterans not only with words, but with a commitment to provide job opportunities in civilian life,” said Congresswoman Haaland.

New Mexico is home to more than 170,000 veterans and one of the highest retired military retiree communities in the country. Haaland grew up in a military family and continues to work to ensure the country lives up to its promises to our veterans. Haaland serves on the House Armed Services Committee (HASC), where she’s focused on serving our servicemembers and their families through her role on the HASC Subcommittee on Military Personnel. Congresswoman Haaland successfully secured military family housing protections in the National Defense Authorization Act of 2019.
