Press Release

Washington, D.C. – Today Congresswoman Deb Haaland (NM-01) released the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a Louisiana law restricting abortion access in June Medical Services v. Russo decision:

“Women need access to reproductive and family planning health services, but many lawmakers put medically unnecessary restrictions on women and families. Today’s Supreme Court decision is welcome news and reaffirms our rights to privacy to get the health care we need, but the fight persists. Anti-woman politicians continue to push harmful policies while we’re making sure to address the public heath emergency our country is facing. I will continue monitoring and fighting to make sure women have the ability to make their own health decisions with their doctors, faith leaders, and families without government interference.”
