Haaland Sworn In to 117th Congress
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Deb Haaland (NM-01) took the oath of office for the 117th Congress, along with six Native members from both parties, the most ever to serve in a Congress; a historic all-woman New Mexico House delegation; and a New Mexico Congressional delegation that reflects the diversity of the state. Additionally, the historically diverse Democratic Majority – now nearly 70 percent women, people of color and LGBTQ – is ready to get to work to fight For The People and to partner with the Biden-Harris Administration to Build Back Better.
“This year’s swearing in was much different than 2018 – with COVID-19 raging in the country and families suffering in the pandemic economy, the work we have to do is urgent. I’m proud to be a member of the 117th Congress and will continue fighting to bring opportunity to everyone and ensure we have a healthy planet for future generations,” said Congresswoman Deb Haaland.
On swearing in day, Haaland also announced her new 117th Congress office locations, which will continue to follow COVID-19 guidelines to protect the health and safety of constituents.
