“Securing the American Dream for Working Families” Will Cover the Future of Work, Wealth and Housing and Legislative Proposals for Equitable Growth

Albuquerque, N.M. -  On Tuesday September 1st, Wednesday September 2nd and Thursday September 3rd, U.S. Reps. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ), Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Deb Haaland (D-NM) will partner to present Securing the American Dream for Working Families, a virtual economic policy conference aimed at exploring proposals that will bring economic security to more households, close the wage and wealth gaps faced by millions, and support everyday Americans to ensure no one in the richest nation in the world is living below the poverty line. Congresswoman Deb Haaland will moderate the forum on September 2nd.

Over the course of three days, the lawmakers will cover the future of work, the future of wealth, and the future of housing with academic experts and advocacy leaders, identifying solutions that will help more families make ends meet without the fear that a crisis ­– whether it be­ a sudden illness, a job loss, or an international pandemic – will wipe out their forward progress.

Watson Coleman is the author of legislation including: the Essential Pay for Essential Work Act, the Earned Income Tax Credit Modernization Act, the Workforce Promotion and Access Act, and the Employee Profit-Sharing Encouragement Act. Omar is the author oflegislation including: Rent and Mortgage Cancellation Act of 2020, the Reinvestment to Ensure a Livable Income for Every Family (RELIEF) Act of 2020, and the Homes for All Act of 2019. Haaland is the author of legislation including: the Gig is Up ActHonoring Family Friendly Workplaces ActUniversal Childcare and Early Learning Act, and Anti-Lunch Shaming Act.
